Does Timber Bunkies come and assemble my new bunkie?

Our Timber Bunkie Kits are designed so that a handy homeowner can assemble the kit with the help of a few friends. To simplify the assembly process all the joinery is completed in our shop and then disassembled for shipping. The flooring, roof and wall boards arrive on site cut to length. Only a few trim pieces will need to be cut on site.

If you feel unable to assemble the kit yourself we may be able to refer you to a qualified local crew that could assist with the assembly. Please contact us with your location.

What is the process once the bunkie arrives at my place? Do I need any specialty tools?

We will notify you well in advance of shipping the bunkie. It is your responsibility to have help on hand to unload the kit.

You will need a few tools for assembly. Refer to the assembly instructions for more details.

What is the lead time?

Lead time varies depending on the time of year. We are typically very busy in the spring and not as busy in the winter. We try to stock the materials but bunkie kits are assembled to order.

Can I add insulation to my bunkie?

Our Timber Bunkie is uniquely designed to make insulating the floor and roof easy. Insulating the walls can be done but it requires an additional layer of wood siding to cover the insulation.

How do I care for my bunkie once it is built?

Our Bunkies are built with Hemlock and wood that is know for its durability. Many of the century barns we see around the countryside would have been clad in Hemlock. Left untreated, Hemlock will last for decades and over time will develop a pleasing grey patina. Hemlock also readily accepts stain.
